Protect our rural heritage from industrial encroachment in lower Dug gap
The Issue
UPDATE: The company pushing the rezoning has canceled the sept 28th meeting but is planning on late nov or late dec to try again, this is common tactic to take heat off subject and wait for people to be thinking about the holidays and not the destruction of the area, I will be watching closely and updating as soon as they reschedule.
As a resident of this beautiful area, I have cherished the serenity and natural beauty we are fortunate to enjoy every day. Our community's unique charm lies in its sprawling fields and the nurturing environment that supports wildlife and agriculture alike. But now, all this is under threat.
A proposal is in place to rezone a significant parcel of land from rural agriculture to heavy manufacturing. If approved, this will not only mar the landscape but will also disrupt the peaceful balance of our ecosystem. Such a shift in land use risks polluting our air and water, increasing noise levels, and diminishing the quality of life we currently enjoy.
Many residents share my concern. Our local area is home to various species of plants and animals that thrive in this rural setting. A transition to heavy manufacturing could destroy these habitats, making survival difficult for countless creatures. Additionally, our community's economy currently benefits substantially from agriculture and eco-tourism. Rezoning could jeopardize these livelihoods, leading to economic instability.
It's imperative that we prioritize sustainable development over short-term industrial gain. There are alternative locations more suitable for manufacturing facilities, which could host new industries without such a drastic impact on our environment and way of life.
I urge you to stand with us in protecting our rural heritage. Our community deserves to have its voice heard and its character preserved. Please sign this petition to oppose the rezoning effort and ensure that we are choosing paths that nurture rather than harm our community's future.
Every signature counts and together, we can make a difference. Stand with us in our effort to preserve the environment we call home. Sign and help prevent this rezoning from taking place.
