Petition updateProtect our ravine from overdevelopment!Closed-door Mediation Scheduled for August
Glen StewartToronto, Canada
10 Jul 2025

Hi friends,

We wanted to share a brief update on where things stand with the 11-storey 847–855 Kingston Road proposal and let you know how you can help keep up the momentum🚀.

Ontario Land Tribunal

The City, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), and the developer will be meeting for mediation on August 11–13. The City and the developer plan to negotiate in “good faith”, meaning they are hoping a settlement will be reached.

If the parties reach an agreement during mediation, the outcome will define the extent to which current ravine protections and zoning are upheld. If no agreement is reached, the dispute will proceed to a formal hearing at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) scheduled for April 2026, where evidence from all sides will be reviewed.

Meeting with Councillor Bradford

We will be meeting with Councillor Bradford in August (our July meeting was postponed). This will be a key moment to reinforce our community's priorities and seek an update on the commitments he’s signalled around public stewardship.

Many of you have already sent in letters (over 400 of you!)—thank you! Even if you have already sent one, please consider sending another brief note or email to Councillor Bradford expressing your views. A polite, personal message goes a long way in showing how important this issue is to all of us.

You might say something like:

“Councillor Bradford, I’m writing as a resident of Beaches–East York to ask that you hold firm on our existing by-laws and zoning for the Glen Stewart Ravine buffer lands. These protections are vital for erosion control, urban cooling, biodiversity, and public safety.”

Or you could use our updated template letter:

A preview of our roadmap ahead: LET THE CITY HEAR US!

  1. Stay informed: We’ll continue to send updates as things develop through the Protect Our Ravine Newsletter
  2. Stay vocal: Amplify this story on social media. Share posts. Like articles. Comment on local news.
  3. Multiple letters to our elected officials: Brad Bradford’s voice at Council will be key if there’s a settlement.
  4. Volunteer with us: We are looking for people to help drop flyers and engage at events, someone to help organize a “rally” type event for August 11, and a media relations specialist. Please email protectourravinetoronto@gmail.com if you would like to help.
  5. Attend Councillor Bradford’s Environment Days: July 13 at Ted Reeve Park and July 27 at 3003 Danforth Ave and let him know how you feel about the condo at the ravine.

With gratitude and determination,
Protect Our Ravine Initiative
