Today, we are grateful to the University of Melbourne investigation into Megaoesophagus and its association with pet food. Finally, we have been given proof that the pet food we were sold is responsible for our Vincent's and many other pets suffering.
The report has been released and it states:
"The strength of the association between the use of Advance Dermocare™ and a diagnosis of megaoesophagus, and the subsequent decrease in the number of megaoesophagus cases following withdrawal of the product from the market, lead us to conclude that Advance Dermocare™ was strongly associated with this outbreak. There is about a one in a million probability that this occurred by chance, supporting the hypothesis that Advance Dermocare™ was associated with this outbreak of idiopathic megaoesophagus in dogs."
"Based on the evidence it is considered likely that the outbreak of megaoesophagus was associated with Advance Dermocare™."
Now, we need to see better regulations of the pet food industry. We need laws to protect our pets from harmful food, from dodgy businesses who care more about their bottom line than our beloved pets.
I'm sure you've seen what a mess Canberra is in lately. We're very worried that the Senate report calling for these changes will fall by the wayside. How long will we have to wait to ensure our pets are safe?
Thank you for your support during this difficult year of our lives, it has meant so much to us. Can we ask you one more thing - can you please share this petition? We now have the proof we need to show Advance Dermocare is linked to us losing Vincent and the continued management of our beautiful Mabel’s condition and all those who are also continuing to manage this condition.
We have the Senate's recommendations. We gratefully appreciate Senator Stirling Griff for his dedication to this cause and his continuing efforts to bring about reform in the pet food industry. Now, we need the rest of the politicians to do their job and put our pets before their problems.
We are still surprised at the number of people we speak to on a daily basis that do not know about this issue. Please share this petition and get the word out there so this does not happen again.
Wishing you all a safe and Merry Christmas,
Christine and Peter Fry.
