Help Me Protect Our Most Vulnerable

Please help me reach my goal of spreading awareness and protecting our most vulnerable. I’m asking you to stand with me by signing this petition in memory of my beloved mother. Her strength, grace, and unconditional love continue to inspire me to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

I cared for my mother, Brenda , for over 18 years as she bravely battled schizophrenia. In 2024, she was subjected to dangerous overmedication, chemical restraint, and devastating violations of her rights as a mental health patient. She suffered a rapid decline and passed due to this systemic failure. My mother was given a 970 mg injection of the drug Invega, despite the FDA-approved maximum dosage being only 234 mg. I watched her rapidly deteriorate, becoming a shell of the woman she once was. Ignored, overmedicated  and stripped of dignity. I watched helplessly as my mother, a woman of gentleness, quiet strength, and unshakable dignity was systematically diminished by a system that should have protected her. Her decline was abrupt, unnatural, and devastating. This was not a slow loss due to illness; this was harm administered under the guise of care. Her death was not inevitable, it was preventable.

Janssen Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of Invega (paliperidone), has a documented history of unethical practices and patient endangerment:
 • Invega carries an FDA Black Box Warning, the highest-level alert, stating it increases the risk of death in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis.
 • Despite this, it continues to be widely prescribed without appropriate oversight, transparency, or informed consent.
 • In 2022, more than 700,000 doses of Invega were recalled due to manufacturing and safety concerns. Yet shocking still being administered
 • Janssen has been sued by multiple states and entities for falsifying and downplaying the serious risks of Invega, particularly in vulnerable populations.
 • Courts have found that the company engaged in deceptive marketing, targeted government-funded healthcare programs, and put profits above patient safety.

These facts are not speculative, they are proven.

Please help me advocate, raise awareness, and fight for accountability in our healthcare system.

In her memory, I am proposing the McNeal Mental Health Patient Protection Act to protect our most vulnerable,

Together we protect the rights, dignity, and lives of mental health patients across the United States against unethical medical practices.

This Act will:

Ban overmedication beyond FDA guidelines without double-physician approval,

• Protect the legal authority of guardians and Powers of Attorney,

Enforce full due process before psychiatric commitments,

• Penalize facilities for violations and wrongful treatment.

Regulatory reform in the administration of high-risk psychiatric drugs.

• Mandatory informed consent before administering Black Box medications.

• Oversight and accountability for pharmaceutical companies and healthcare providers.

• Justice for families like mine, who are left to pick up the pieces

This is not just about my mother. It is about every vulnerable patient, especially those with mental illness who continue to be silenced, overmedicated, and dehumanized. We must act now to ensure the dignity, safety, and humanity of our loved ones.Your signature is more than just support, it’s a powerful step toward change. Together, we can honor those we’ve lost and protect those still at risk. Every signature is a stand against negligence, corruption, and silence.

Her life mattered. Her death must bring change!

Help protect our most vulnerable residents by reaching our goal one signature at a time…. people can heal when they feel heard.
