My son is plagued with a severe medical problem. Medicare, as it stands, provides him with the essential medical help he needs. But, proposed changes to this crucial program threaten to disrupt the much-needed support and aid to people like my son and many others.

Medicare, instituted in 1966, currently covers 44 million beneficiaries, approximately 15% of the U.S population (KFF, 2019). Among these recipients are some of the most vulnerable members of our society like the elderly, differently-abled, and those with severe health conditions. Changes to this program could drastically impact their lives and well-being.

Further, the National Bureau of Economic Research (2012) reported that Medicare beneficiaries, on average, receive benefits two to three times their lifetime contributions. This emphasizes the critical role of Medicare in supporting those with severe health conditions and limited income.

For the sake of my son and millions of beneficiaries, let's stand against the government’s changes to Medicare. Let us advocate for it to remain untouched, so our loved ones continue receiving the help they need. Please sign the petition to protect our Medicare.
