I hope you’ve been doing well. First, let me say how grateful I am that you stood with me in calling for a careful review of SpaceX launches at Vandenberg. This petition wouldn’t have gotten off the ground without caring neighbors like you who believe in keeping our coastal environment healthy and safe.

I’m reaching out now because there’s a new development that could weaken the protections we’ve been counting on. California Assembly Bill 10 (AB 10)—introduced by Assembly Member Essayli on December 2—would limit the California Coastal Commission’s authority. This matters to all of us who want to ensure that any major activities along our shores (including those rocket launches) go through a thorough, thoughtful review before moving forward.

If AB 10 passes, the Commission’s ability to protect our coastline, wildlife, and public resources would be cut back. It would also leave us with fewer ways to make our voices heard when big decisions are being made.

Here’s how you can help make a difference:

 1. Reach Out to Your Assembly Member: A quick email, phone call, or letter to your representative can help show that neighbors like us care deeply about keeping the Coastal Commission strong.
