Lethbridge families deserve a shopping environment that prioritizes the safety and well-being of minors. Currently, the Spencer’s Gifts location in Park Place Mall allows unrestricted access to adult-themed and sexually explicit products. With no solid barriers or mandatory ID checks for entry, these items are frequently visible to and reachable by children and teenagers.

This needs to change! We as adults are responsible for the protection of children!

Our Demands:

We are calling on Park Place Mall Management, Spencer’s Canada, and Lethbridge City Council to take immediate action:

1. For Park Place Mall Management: Mandate that tenants in family-oriented areas install floor-to-ceiling solid barriers for any adult-themed sections and require 18+ verification to enter those areas.
2. For Spencer’s Canada: Implement a national corporate policy requiring strict ID checks at the entrance of all stores containing adult products. Or at the minimum, strict ID checks at an enclosed floor-to-ceiling area within the store (a curtain or wall) with the adult products behind it, away from the sight of minors.
3. For Lethbridge City Council: Pass a local bylaw requiring clear physical separation and age-restricted entry for any retail space displaying sexually explicit materials in public shopping centers.
