Dear Signers
Today, during the afternoon of the 15th of June, 2024, I witnessed another piece of psychological horror brought to you by the gentlemen who are supposed to be "keeping our community safe" and Adelaide Metro.
Today, as I exited a bus while travelling through the suburbs of Adelaide, I looked back at it, and noticed a large advert for the newly-released family-friendly film "IF" displayed on the shuttle. Unfortunately, however, right next to it was an even larger, horrifically gory image of a man being killed in a car-crash. I've had to censor the ad here because it is too graphic to be shown.
When the "Wouldn't Hurt to Wear a Seatbelt" campaign started in South Australia, not only did more gory adverts begin to be shown on billboards, at bus stops, and during G and PG-rated content on TV, but even on buses themselves, where children heading out for the day can be terrified and distressed by them. Showing them graphic images of car crashes is bad enough, but putting it next to an advert for a children's film is beyond words..
Imagine if a child saw that. They feel excited that a new film geared towards them has come out, only for them to see an image of a man being mangled in a car crash with splattered blood the next second. Even I felt a bit lightheaded and sick just by looking at it.
"Wouldn't Hurt to Wear a Seatbelt" Ok cool. But you know what also wouldn't hurt? Thinking about the families and their children who have to see that on their way to school.
Please continue to support and share. Unfortunately, there seems to be apparently no way to directly contact Think! Road Safety, however, you can go to SA Police's socials (as they have also been working on these gory adverts) and send a complaint to the Advertising Standards Board here: https://adstandards.com.au/make-a-complaint/ There's also Adelaide Metro, as they are also partly responsible for allowing these gory ads to be displayed on their transportation in the first place. If you know of any other organisations who have been creating and/or supporting unnecessarily gory road safety adverts to be shown in public places, or during G and PG-rated content on TV, let me know and I'll provide their links here.

Thank you all for your time. It would be awesome if we could reach 250 signatures and beyond. Remember that we are doing this for the children of Australia. Don't give up! Keep going until we win!
