Student centred candidates Ida Li Preti, Maria Rizzo and Markus Di Domenico were reelected to continue their great work at the TCDSB.

Only one new Board member was elected last week, replacing Trustee Di Pasquale who resigned to run for City Council. Anti-human rights trustees (and their voting block), likely got by on name recognition and/or with the help of their friends in special interest groups like CLC and PAFE. The level disrespect for staff and dilatory behaviour by some of these trustees make board meetings painful to witness, so it's no surprise that public participation is also not as widespread as it should be.

The article linked here summarizes the 2022 election for candidates that ran as opposition of inclusive education practices, with just a glimpse into the TCDSB board room, stating in part:

"Among the incumbents who were re-elected on Monday are Mike Del Grande of the Toronto Catholic District School, whose website boasted of endorsements from lobby groups that support anti-trans policies.

Del Grande took a medical leave in 2021 after being ordered to apologize for making homophobic remarks.

The Campaign Life Coalition, an anti-abortion group also known for its anti-LGBTQ views, has raised nearly $120,000 to help fund a legal challenge to the board decision that demanded Del Grande apologize.

Challenging the decision, the coalition says, is necessary to protect those "who dare to speak out against the transgender agenda.""
