The "Catholic" trustee that fought against human rights protections in our schools, then compared our LGBT+ students to criminal acts such as cannibalism, pedophilia and beastiality, Mike Del Grande, has yet to be censured by the Toronto Catholic District School Board.

A special TCDSB board meeting has been called for Today, Monday, December 23rd, 2019, at 7pm, in which law abiding trustee’s are again seeking to censure Mike Del Grande. However, it appears as though he has an army of haters lined up to delegate in his defence.

Since our last update, Mike Del Grande has continued to speak out against the approved motion to have human rights aligned protections within the TCDSB’s code of conduct. He has published an op-ed on LifeSiteNews, one of North America’s leading propaganda outlets, founded by none other than anti-choice & anti-LGBT+ group CLC (described in the main petition as having suspicious relationships with certain trustees), in which he defends his human rights opposition stating it was an “attack on our faith” and “I call it evil”

It has also been revealed that Del Grande cornered a student trustee, alone in the trustee lounge, ultimately leaving her in tears, after discussions of showing propaganda laden film "Unplanned" in classrooms during the meeting just prior, where she had stated that students wanted to be a part of the decision making on that.

Additionally, there appears to be multiple violations as a result of his recent actions that also have yet to be addressed. One can only assume he felt invisible and entitled since he wasn't censured by the TCDSB, as Canadian laws and the oath he took as a public servant no longer seem important.

1) Against the Education Act 218.3 (12), Del Grande was allowed to vote to keep discussions regarding his public conduct in private during a special board meeting.

2) Against the Education Act 218.1 (e), Del Grande has failed to uphold the implementation of a board resolution after it was passed. (Ie. by publishing the op-ed)

3) Against the Criminal Code of Canada Section 319 (1), Del Grande’s public incitement of hatred (Ie. repeating the word "evil" regarding LGBT youth in his op-ed) has lead to a breach of the peace, not only further upsetting colleagues, students and constituents, but leading to public statements rejecting his actions from multiple affiliated organizations, and professionals including the Minister of Education and the Mayor of Toronto. Given the age difference and vulnerability of many of the victims, this is a particularly urgent violation that should be looked into immediately. *The Canadian Charter of Rights does not allow people of faith to discriminate based on their chosen beliefs.

Further, Mike Del Grande just accepted an award from Campaign Life Coalition, during which he stated that he calls their leaders Jack and Steve "all the time... for supportive words” and confirmed that he “will not apologize” or “lay down” as long as this lobbyist group supports him.

The good news? There are tolerant and law abiding trustee's attempting to put an end to this bigotry, misogyny, homophobia and transphobia within TCDSB leadership, and ultimately the community, through tonight’s special board meeting. Let's pray that this is the final 'special meeting' needed to address Del Grande and the other misguided trustees... and that they will finally come to terms with the fact that human rights override personal beliefs.
