Orcas are magnificent creatures and are an essential part of the marine ecosystem. Yet, they are in grave danger, facing threats that could lead to their extinction if we don’t take action

Orcas, also known as killer whales, are increasingly endangered due to human activities such as pollution, overfishing, and climate change. According to the IUCN Red List, some orca populations are critically endangered, with only around 73 Southern Resident Orcas left in the wild. This is caused by decreases of their main food source, the Chinook salmon, as well as increased boat traffic and noise pollution in their habitats.

Orcas are also faced with long-term impacts due to global warming and toxic contaminants in the ocean. 

This petition urges governments around the world, environmental organizations, and powerful leaders to take action in order to prevent the extinction of orcas. We urge them to do the following:

1. Create more local laws that enforce stricter regulations on harmful pollutants to the ocean, which in turn helps maintain orca’s health.

2. Ensure responsible fishing to support the orca food chain.

3. Create dedicated marine protected areas for orcas to live peacefully.

4. Limit boat traffic to preserve habitats for orcas.
