Yet, in Hudson, NY, opossums face dire threats from both human hunting and vehicular hazards. As urban areas expand, these valuable animals are increasingly in danger, putting the ecological balance at risk. Hunting poses a direct threat to their population, while roadways and cars contribute significantly to their mortality rates.
