Protect One-Million Bats in Huntsville, Texas

Protect One-Million Bats in Huntsville, Texas
The Issue
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice is choosing to destroy the habitat of approximately one-million Mexican Free-Tailed bats located in the former cotton warehouse at the corner of 14th St and Avenue I in Huntsville, Texas. We sign this petition to ask that TDCJ choose not to destroy the warehouse and instead, stabilize it if necessary, in order for it to be safe and accessible for the humans that enter to clean the building and for the bats to use as their preferred home. The bats could be used as a tourist attraction to bring more people to spend money in Huntsville businesses, restaurants and hotels and increase sales tax revenue for local government entities.
