Today, I had the opportunity to meet with staff from Senator Hagenbuch's district office and personally address the concerns that brought so many of us together through this petition.
As a parent, I began this effort because I believe families deserve accountability, transparency, and meaningful protections when children are harmed by systems that are supposed to support them. Thanks to your support, those concerns are now being discussed at the legislative level.
I am especially grateful to Dr. Henny Kupferstein, whose policy expertise and legislative work helped shape the proposals presented to the Senator's office.
To help spread awareness and make information more accessible to the public, I have also launched a website for this initiative: NonverbalRights.com.
Please exercise caution when visiting the site. It contains news reports and documented cases involving the abuse, neglect, injury, and deaths of vulnerable individuals. Some of these accounts are graphic and may be emotionally difficult to read, particularly for parents, caregivers, autistic individuals, and family members who have experienced similar situations.
This meeting does not mean the work is finished. It means the conversation has begun. Every signature on this petition helped make today's meeting possible. Every story shared helped demonstrate that these concerns are not isolated incidents but issues that deserve serious attention from policymakers.
Thank you for standing with me and with the many families who have been affected. I will continue to keep you informed as discussions progress and as we pursue additional opportunities to advance these reforms.
Today was an important step forward. Thank you for helping make it happen.
