Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to share a little update, because even though the signature count has held steady at 782, things are quietly moving behind the scenes — and I’m starting to see how this petition connects to something much bigger than I ever expected.

When I launched this petition back in March, it came from a simple, honest place:

a community space closed, people were affected, and it didn’t feel right to stay silent.

What I didn’t realise then was how far this issue could travel.

Since then:

My MP has spoken twice in Parliament about the loss of our local community spaces

The themes of this petition now sit alongside a national Bill currently moving through the House of Lords

The concerns we raised — about access, support, inclusion, and the importance of safe community hubs — are now part of a wider conversation about local empowerment

I’m still learning how all of this works, and I’ll be honest — it feels both exciting and a little overwhelming. But hopeful, too.

As the English Devolution & Community Empowerment Bill continues its journey, there are some possible changes that your signatures are helping to highlight, such as:

✨ Stronger protection for community hubs

✨ Councils being required to consider social value before closing essential spaces

✨ Better consultation with local people — including disabled and neurodiverse residents

✨ Clearer accountability around keeping community spaces open

✨ Recognising how important places like No Limits were for wellbeing and support

Nothing is guaranteed yet, and I don’t want to overpromise — this process is new to me, and I’m learning as I go. But knowing that the concerns we raised are being discussed at national level gives me hope.

Your support has already helped shine a light on the importance of safe, inclusive spaces.

Your signatures have kept this conversation alive.

And your voices still matter as the Bill progresses.

If you can, please continue to share the petition.

Even one more person understanding why community spaces matter can make a difference.

Thank you — truly — for standing with me, for believing in communities, and for helping something small grow into something meaningful.

With gratitude, hope, and a little bit of “I can’t believe this is happening,”

Anna
