Today I wanted to share an important development linked to our campaign for protecting community spaces.
The English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill — the legislation that sits closest to the issues raised in this petition — is now moving into the House of Lords. MPs in the Commons have finished their part, and the Lords will hold their Second Reading debate on 8 December.
This is the stage where the wider purpose of the bill is discussed, including themes like community empowerment, local decision-making, and how places like ours can be protected and valued.
It doesn’t decide the final outcome, but it does shape the direction — and it’s encouraging to know that our petition’s message fits directly into the national conversation happening right now.
