Today I located the key clause in the amended English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill that directly matches the purpose of this petition.
Clause 60: Community right to buy assets of community value.
This clause gives communities the first chance to save important local buildings before they are quietly closed or sold. It brings in warning periods, proper time to respond, and real protection for places like community cafés, hubs and youth spaces.
If this law had existed earlier, the closure of No Limits would have been handled very differently. There would have been time, transparency, and a chance for the community to step in.
The good news is:
Clause 60 is still in the Bill. Strong, intact, and ready for the House of Lords stage on 8 December.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this petition.
Our collective voices truly matter.
