🚨 Update: Objectors File Response to NCAA’s New Settlement Proposal

Yesterday, the Objectors officially filed their response to the NCAA and Plaintiffs' proposed revised settlement. While all the filings brought valuable insight, one stood out in particular: a sharp, concise 5-page brief from prominent class action attorney Laura Reathaford. [Read it here.]

Her filing is exceptional—clear, compelling, and impossible to ignore. Attorney Philip Sheng weighed in with thoughtful commentary and strong praise for Reathaford’s argument. You can read his full analysis and thread here:

So, Where Are We Now?

The NCAA and House attorneys are allowed one final response (to be submitted by 5/16).

My take? Unless they agree to make grandfathering of student-athletes mandatory, Judge Wilken is likely to reject the revised proposal outright—meaning this settlement heads to trial.

It’s remarkable to consider: after years of negotiation, the fate of this landmark settlement now hangs by a thread. And that thread is public pressure and principled objection.

To everyone who’s continued to speak up, organize, write, file, and fight—great work. Keep pushing. It’s making a difference.
