📢 FINAL CHANCE TO SPEAK UP!
Tell the Judge How Roster Limits Will Affect You
Deadline: TONIGHT – Tuesday, April 15, 2025, by Midnight PT
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SENDING COMMENT TO JUDGE WILKEN
Background: At the April 7, 2025, settlement hearing, Judge Wilken told the
NCAA and Plaintiffs to phase in roster limits. She issued an order requiring
the parties to submit a “joint report” on April 14, 2025, explaining how they
plan “to address those concerns.” Instead of addressing the Judge’s concerns,
the parties chose not to make any changes to roster limits, and instead made
excuses. Judge Wilken’s order allows the public to file “[a]ny comment” to the
parties’ joint report by Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at midnight PT. She expressly
stated that comments are limited to 1 page. Thus, you have only until midnight
TONIGHT to submit your one-page of comments. Here is a link to the parties’
joint report: LINK. Roster limits are discussed at pages 9-12.
Send your one-page comment to this email address as a PDF attachment: 9Docketing@cand.uscourts.gov
Checklist:
- Tell the judge if and when you previously objected on or before January 31. State your name and: “I ______objected to this settlement on__________. (if not proceed to next)
- Do not exceed one page. 12-point font, single-spaced is OK.
- Include the following case name and number at the beginning of your
comment: College Athlete NIL Litigation, Case No. 4:20-cv-03919 - Address the comment to: The Honorable Claudia Wilken.
- Write whatever you would like Judge Wilken to know. For example, you can tell her how roster limits will affect you personally or why you think roster limits need to be phased in. You can tell her the emotional or financial harm you will suffer if you are cut from your team. This is your opportunity to be heard and likely the last chance you will be able to write to the judge before she rules on the settlement.
- Provide your full name and NCAA ECID number if you have one.
- Comments should be coming from the athlete. If parents, guardians, or coaches need to write in on the athlete’s behalf, then that is OK. But best if comments come from athletes.
Note: Your letter will be filed publicly, so do not include sensitive information.
