Protect National Parks from Sale in Senate Bill

The Issue

The National Parks system is dear to my heart for so many reasons. I have spent countless hours of my life in these beautiful landscapes, fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world. From the awe-inspiring vistas of the Grand Canyon to the serene forests of Yosemite, these lands have not only shaped my personal experiences but have also been a significant part of our nation’s heritage.

Recently, a new Senate bill has been proposed that threatens to sell parts of our cherished National Parks land to private interests. These public lands were set aside for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of current and future generations, a mission established by strong, forward-thinking leaders like Theodore Roosevelt. Selling any portion of these lands compromises their conservation and undermines the invaluable environmental, historical, and cultural benefits they provide.

National Parks are crucial in preserving biodiversity, providing habitats for countless wildlife species, and serving as essential ecological reserves against climate change. Furthermore, they contribute significantly to our economy. The National Parks Service reports that visitor spending in communities near parks generated $41.7 billion in economic output nationally and supported 340,500 jobs in 2020.

Protecting these lands is paramount not only for their natural beauty and cultural significance but for the countless species and ecosystem services they support. There are better ways to address fiscal concerns and land management issues without sacrificing our precious public lands. Instead, we should be investing in our National Parks, ensuring their preservation for future generations and upholding their status as national treasures.

I urge you to stand with me in opposing any legislation that threatens to sell off our National Parks. Please sign this petition to show your support in protecting these irreplaceable lands from being sold and help preserve America's natural legacy.
