Dear Neighbors and Petition Supporters,
Thank you for standing with us in raising concerns about the growing aircraft noise and lead pollution over our Mesa neighborhoods. We wanted to personally update you on some important facts about what’s happening at Falcon Field and how it affects all of us.
Falcon Field's Traffic Surge & CAE's Operations
Many residents aren’t aware that CAE, a Canadian-based flight school, is now the largest flight training operation at Falcon Field. This facility is responsible for a significant portion of the flight traffic over our homes, and they primarily train foreign pilots who will leave for jobs overseas, while our neighborhoods bear the burden of constant noise and air pollution.
Explosive Growth in Air Traffic
Falcon Field’s traffic has increased exponentially in recent years, with multiple flight schools operating daily training loops over our neighborhoods. Unfortunately, much of this activity is concentrated over residential areas, including schools, parks, and homes with young children.
Leaded Fuel: A Hidden Public Health Threat
One of the most troubling facts is that Mesa continues to mainly profit from the sale of leaded aviation fuel (100LL) at Falcon Field. This is the very same type of leaded fuel that the EPA has now deemed harmful, especially to children’s developing brains. While other cities and airports nationwide are working to phase out this dangerous fuel, Mesa is currently lagging behind, prioritizing aviation profits over public health.
Our Call to Action
Your signatures and voices matter more than ever. We must continue to hold both Falcon Field and the City of Mesa accountable for protecting the health and quality of life of its residents. I encourage you to share the petition with neighbors and friends, and continue reporting excessive aircraft noise and concerns about lead exposure.
Together, we can push for responsible flight operations, noise abatement procedures, and a transition to unleaded aviation fuel alternatives.
Thank you for being part of this effort. We’ll continue to keep you updated as we make progress.
