Protect Lives at Roseland Community Hospital: Demand Emergency Oversight & New Leadership

Protect Lives at Roseland Community Hospital: Demand Emergency Oversight & New Leadership
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents, patients, professionals, and advocates, call for urgent state, county, or hospital system intervention at Roseland Community Hospital (Chicago, IL).
Roseland Community Hospital has become a danger to the community it is meant to serve. It suffers from:
• Patient deaths due to EMTALA violations and neglect
• Employment of providers previously found guilty of federal violations
• Lack of medications, fluids, IV tubing, and basic supplies
• Fraudulent billing and retaliation against whistleblowers
• Delays in emergency care and unsafe ED staffing
• Unqualified executive leadership and insider contracts
• No community input, no board transparency, and no accountability
We are asking the following:
1. Oversight and intervention by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Governor’s Office
2. Emergency financial and operational audit by CMS and the Illinois Attorney General
3. Leadership replacement and nonprofit board restructuring
4. A transition of management or takeover by a trusted institution like the University of Chicago Medical Center
5. Creation of a Community Oversight Board to ensure public accountability
Roseland receives millions in taxpayer dollars and is the only safety-net hospital for Chicago’s far South Side. This crisis affects lives, public trust, and the future of healthcare in our community.
We urge the state, county, or a qualified medical institution to take over and reform Roseland Community Hospital before more lives are lost.
