This community forum will include:
- Updates on Our Petition & Formal Submissions
Review progress made so far, including legislative outreach and next steps toward accountability. - Community Testimonies & Concerns
Provide space for residents, staff, and stakeholders to share their experiences, challenges, and hopes for Roseland Community Hospital. - Exploring a Roseland Hospital District
Discuss the option of establishing a Roseland Hospital District under Illinois law, which would give the community:- Elected Board of Trustees to govern the hospital, set budgets, and hire leadership
- Funding Mechanisms to levy taxes or issue bonds for hospital improvements
- Public Accountability through open meetings, public reports, and community oversight requirements
- Creating a Community Oversight Board
Examine the potential for a Statutory Community Oversight Board, established via City Council resolution or state legislation, with authority to:- Receive hospital data, review finances, and hold leadership accountable
- Serve as the first step toward full community governance if desired
- Breakout Session: Envisioning Community Ownership
Small groups will brainstorm and share ideas on what true community-led oversight and ownership of Roseland Community Hospital could look like.
