The citizens of Camilla, Georgia, have witnessed significant improvements in our community under the leadership of Mayor Kelvin Owens. His dedication has transformed Camilla into a thriving hub of economic progress, earning our city regional and statewide recognition for our achievements. Recently, Camilla was honored as a Visionary City by Georgia Trend Magazine and the Georgia Municipal Association. Furthermore, for the first time in our town's history, Camilla was awarded PlanFirst Community status by Georgia's Department of Community Affairs, showcasing our city's forward-thinking progress and innovation.

Despite these tremendous accomplishments, there is now an imminent threat to Mayor Owens' position. Governor Kemp is considering suspending him from office, a decision that could undermine the will of the voters who firmly support him and his proven track record. This potential suspension appears premature and neglectful of the democratic process made by Camilla's residents, especially without the final disposition of the pending case against him.

Mayor Owens has undeniably made Camilla a better place to live, work, and grow. Suspending him without a thorough review and final judgment of the case would be a disservice to the city he has selflessly served.
