On 8th of April 2026 WAKEONE released a statement saying that Kim Geonwoo, member of Kpop Group Alpha Drive One will go on a hiatus and won't be allowed to participate in the fan-concert to "self-reflect" on his actions. The "incident" they are talking about:

"The incident occurred at a content filming site prior to their debut. At the time, Kim Geonwoo was unaware that his microphone was on and expressed dissatisfaction using inappropriate language." 

1. This incident occurred prior to debut. It is therefore difficult to understand why Kim Geonwoo is being required to go on hiatus at this point in time for the purpose of “self-reflection.” Given the time that has already passed, it is highly likely that he has already reflected on his actions.

2. Idols are human beings. Expressing frustration, even through inappropriate language in private moments, is something that can happen to anyone. Holding him to an unrealistic standard ignores this basic reality that applies to all people.

3. The consequences for his actions are way too high, looking at how there will be a fan concert soon, that he won't be able to attend. 

WE DEMAND FOR KIM GEONWOO TO COME BACK FROM HIS HIATUS AND FOR EVERYONE WHO DID HARM TO HIM TO APOLOGIZE. 

WE ALSO DEMAND FOR WAKEONE TO PROTECT THEIR ARTIST! 

2026년 4월 8일, WAKEONE은 그룹 Alpha Drive One의 Kim Geonwoo가 활동을 중단하고, 자신의 행동에 대해 “자숙”의 시간을 갖기 위해 팬콘서트에 참여하지 않는다고 발표했습니다.

해당 “사건”은 다음과 같습니다:

“해당 사건은 데뷔 전 콘텐츠 촬영 현장에서 발생했습니다. 당시 김건우는 마이크가 켜져 있는지 인지하지 못한 상태에서 부적절한 언어로 불만을 표현했습니다.”

1. 해당 사건은 데뷔 이전에 발생한 일입니다. 따라서 이 시점에서 “자숙”을 이유로 김건우가 활동을 중단해야 하는지 이해하기 어렵습니다. 이미 상당한 시간이 지난 만큼, 그는 충분히 자신의 행동을 되돌아보았을 가능성이 높습니다.

2. 아이돌 역시 인간입니다. 사적인 순간에 부적절한 표현으로 감정을 표출하는 것은 누구에게나 일어날 수 있는 일입니다. 이를 지나치게 엄격한 기준으로 판단하는 것은 현실을 외면하는 것입니다.

3. 그의 행동에 비해 처벌이 지나치게 무겁습니다. 특히 곧 예정된 팬콘서트에 참여하지 못하게 된 점은 과도한 조치입니다.

우리는 김건우의 활동 복귀를 강력히 요구합니다. 또한 그에게 피해를 준 모든 이들의 사과를 요구합니다.

아울러, WAKEONE은 소속 아티스트를 보호할 것을 강력히 촉구합니다.
