We did it!

With the help of all 86,858 of you, the New York legislature passed the Child Victims Act yesterday! Governor Cuomo pledged yesterday to sign it into law this week, meaning New York is about to become a better state for children and a worse state for people who sexually abuse them.

I cannot thank you enough for signing, for your calls and emails to elected officials over the years. All the conversations you started, all the people you educated, all came to fruition yesterday. Thank you.

Family Court Reform- Across the nation, dangerous partners who abuse their children or their partner are granted custody or unsupervised visitation with their children. Breaking the Cycle of Trauma: We know that most of us experience a trauma in our youth that is so significant it can impact our physical, mental, emotional and financial health for the rest of our life. We also know that parenting through trauma is especially difficult and that parents can pass their trauma onto their children. There are time-tested programs that break this cycle, called Maternal Home Visiting programs, but they are available to 10% or less of eligible and willing families.
