Twelve years ago very few people understood that statutes of limitation on child sexual abuse keep most victims of child sexual abuse out of the courts and keep most abusers on the streets. Now fixing our laws so that we protect children, not predators, is one of the Governor’s top priorities. That’s a huge accomplishment that we never could have achieved without a lot of hard work, a lot of partnerships, without this petition and without all of you helping us along. But we’re not done yet. Budget negotiations are largely hidden from public scrutiny. We need to keep the pressure on our elected officials that this must be the year we abolish the statutes of limitation for child sexual abuse and protect kids, not predators.
