Each of these animals is a testament to the rich biodiversity that Kaziranga supports. But this sanctuary is under severe threat from poaching, habitat loss, and proposals that seek to drastically reduce its size to a mere 1 kilometer area.

Poaching remains a grave concern, with many endangered animals being hunted for their horns, ivory, and other body parts. According to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), wildlife crime has become a multi-billion-dollar industry, undermining the conservation efforts and threatening species with extinction. Besides wildlife crime, habitat loss due to agricultural expansion, urbanization, and climate change severely disrupts the ecological balance of Kaziranga.

Furthermore, any reduction in the park's area would be catastrophic not only for the animals but also for the ecological stability of the region. Kaziranga spans 430 square kilometers, providing a crucial corridor for wildlife migration and ecosystem maintenance. Shrinking its boundary would fragment these habitats, leading to increased human-wildlife conflict and further endangering the species we strive to protect.

We must take urgent and decisive action to protect Kaziranga National Park. This involves stricter enforcement of anti-poaching laws, enhanced surveillance with technology such as drones and camera traps, and fostering community involvement to ensure sustainable conservation practices. Additionally, any legislative proposals to reduce the park's size must be staunchly opposed and challenged through legal channels.
