Right now is the critical time to raise public awareness about the danger to the trees of Jingu Gaien from the re-development plan, as Governor Koike has to decide by next Wednesday (March 9th) whether she is going to give final approval to the plan.

Saturday (tomorrow) is supposed to be a beautiful warm sunny spring day in Tokyo. So let’s go to Jingu Gaien, take pictures of the trees, and post them on social media with the hashtag #神宮外苑の樹木伐採に反対します between noon and 5 pm tomorrow. (Other times are fine as well, but in order to get the biggest impact having posts clustered during that time will be helpful – there is strength in numbers!)

If you aren’t able to go to Jingu Gaien to take pictures tomorrow, please post links to some of the press coverage that has come out (see past updates for links) and include the hashtag. Or do both! You can also help by liking and retweeting posts by others that use the hashtag. I will post a tweet at noon to kick things off, and if you can like and retweet that one it would be much appreciated.

Posting on any social media channel is helpful, but Twitter is particularly helpful. Because if we can get enough tweets with the hashtag and attention to them, we can get the hashtag to trend, which will get the attention of more people, including the media.

This is a chance to let people know that we care about this topic. So let’s go out there and make a splash!
