Protect Idaho's Scotchman Peaks

Protect Idaho's Scotchman Peaks
The Issue
Take action: Thank Senator James E. Risch (R-ID) for championing wilderness protection in Idaho’s Scotchman Peaks!
Scotchman Peak, at 7,009 feet, is the highest point in Bonner County. North Idaho has large areas of wild land, but none is permanently protected. In response to the strong and diverse local support that includes conservationists, county commissioners, the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, sportsmen, and representatives from the timber industry, Sen. Risch has introduced the Scotchman Peaks Wilderness Act to safeguard roughly 14,000 acres of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests as wilderness.
Passage of this measure would conserve this unique landscape for generations to come. Please take a moment to thank him for his leadership! The area proposed for protection features stunning views of Lake Pend Oreille and is home to grizzly bears, bull trout, Canada lynx, wolverines, moose, and mountain goats. It is a popular spot for local families and visitors to hike, hunt, and explore.
Designating these spectacular public lands as wilderness would preserve this special place and ensure that our children and theirs would be able to enjoy this treasured region. Thank Senator Risch today!
