Protect Hawaii State Parks

Protect Hawaii State Parks
The Issue
The Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources has granted itself the power to make money by putting food trucks inside Hawaii State Park boundaries.
DLNR is exempting itself from doing any regulatory environmental risk assessments.
What’s more, DLNR is turning over the responsibility of waste, rubbish, and bathroom provisions to the food truck owners, itself not provisioning support nor infrastructure to handle the increased human footprint and strain on these special management areas.
DLNR has quietly made this approval for its own gain in meetings with itself, without a public hearing, and creating a blanket approval to put food trucks in any State Park across the island without regard for the negative impact this human development will bring to areas that are the last safeguard for endangered animals in the archipelago.
DNLR is exploiting the land it is in charge of protecting. Instead of upholding their duty to conserve the land and hold back the ravages of human development, it is allowing the very thing without care, protection, or transparency.
In order to make a profit, DLNR is bringing in the very threat to these protected lands it is designed to keep out. While funds may be needed, it cannot be achieved through the desecration of critical environmental habitats and reproductive grounds for endangered animals.

We have a short time to stop the exploitation of Hawaii’s State Parks.
