Kamehameha Schools has IGNORED the thousands of Signatures on the Help Save Keauhou Bay petition, including YOURS. They have IGNORED the Scientific evidence that their Bungalow Resort will pollute the Keauhou Bay. The have IGNORED the Cultural Impact Statemen Law and National Preservation Act they will violate by developing this resort.
Kamehameha Schools was Created to BE a Trust For the Education of the Hawaiian People, NOT to Become a Business Empire for the trustees.
The Hawaiian Endowed Lands were intended to fully fund the education of the Hawaiian people, without requiring them to pay tuition.
Nowhere in Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop’s Will does it state that Hawaiians should bear the financial burden of their own education. She gave her land, and created the TRUST, Kamehameha Schools, to take care of this burden for her people.
Her intent was clear: the Trustees were to use land-generated profits SOLELY to educate and support the Hawaiian people, NOT for creating a business empire.
Kamehahea Schools' plan to Develop a Bungalow Resort in Keauhou Bay, the LAST Local Bay on the Big Island, fueled a desire for the truth about their actions to start being investigated.
