The Issue

Greenwich needs safer streets. Cycling and walking are essential parts of daily life for students and residents alike. However, our roads are full of blind spots, narrow shoulders, potholes, and areas with unsafe visibility. With distracted driving on the rise and limited space for cyclists, accidents happen quickly and far too often.

From February 2020 to September 2025, CTSRC crash data shows a significant number of collisions on Greenwich roads, including 48 bike-related car accidents.

Greenwich High School’s Student Policy Initiative (SPI), a student organization dedicated to representing the interests of GHS students and the broader Greenwich community through policymaking, is urging town leadership to take action. SPI calls for the installation of dedicated bike lanes, improved signage, and clear road markings to reduce collisions and create safer routes for everyone.

Greenwich can and should prioritize the safety of its residents. Add your name to support safer infrastructure and show the town that students and community members are united behind this issue.
