Protect Greenfields and stop subdivisions off of St John's heritage parkway
The Issue
My name is Jordan Milyon, and I was born in Orlando, Florida. I spent the first roughly five years of my life in St. Cloud, Florida, before moving to St. Petersburg for 13 years. Since January of this year, Palm Bay has been my home. I am passionate about protecting our land and quality of life, not just for the wildlife but for all of us who benefit from cleaner air, vibrant agriculture industries, and a community free from unnecessary urban sprawl. Palm Bay boasts exquisite natural beauty and irreplaceable green fields which provide critical habitats for diverse wildlife. The sprawling subdivision construction threatens the very environment that sustains us, driven by corporate greed that overlooks the long-term impacts on our community. This development will not only destroy the habitats of numerous species but also diminish our air quality and affect our agricultural industries, which are vital to our community’s economy and well-being. It is imperative that we hold our local authorities accountable to ensure they prioritize conservation and sustainable planning over short-term profits. By doing so, we can preserve the natural landscapes and avoid the irreversible consequences of habitat destruction, ensuring future generations enjoy an even better quality of life. We need to implement stronger regulations and planning guidelines that prevent unnecessary construction on our precious greenfields. Establishing wildlife corridors and preserving natural spaces should be at the forefront of urban planning. Let's focus on developing within already existing spaces where infrastructure exists, rather than expanding into untouched natural areas. Palm Bay deserves to thrive with its breathtaking sceneries intact. Let us act now to safeguard our environment and make transformative changes that reflect our community values of sustainability and preservation. Join me in this mission to protect the natural beauty of Palm Bay. Sign this petition to demand that local authorities halt the removal of subdivisions planned on these heritage lands and prioritize long-term environmental sustainability over fleeting economic gain.
