In the heart of Villa Rica, Georgia, stands Goldworth Farm Park, a beloved historic site that holds the memories of generations. For centuries, this land has symbolized our community's spirit and resilience, offering a green oasis amidst the rapid urbanization. The park, cherished by many, is now under threat as plans for the Avemore Data Park development loom on the horizon, threatening to obliterate not only the park's natural beauty but its historical significance.

The proposed Avemore Data Park is slated to replace this invaluable space, transforming it into a commercial zone that does not align with the cultural and environmental values of Carroll County's residents. The development will not only alter the landscape but also potentially increase noise, traffic congestion, and pollution in a region already grappling with these issues.

Data centers, while economically beneficial, demand significant electrical, water, and infrastructure resources. According to the Uptime Institute, data centers can consume up to 3% of all global electricity today and their energy needs are expected to triple in the coming years. Such a facility could strain our local resources and further exacerbate environmental degradation, contrary to our community's commitment to sustainability and conservation.

Moreover, the construction of a data park at this location undermines our cultural heritage. Goldworth Farm Park is a reminder of our past, with historic structures and landscapes telling stories of our ancestors. Destroying such an integral part of our heritage for short-term economic gain disregards the community's values and sacrifices our long-term legacy.

There are alternative sites for development that would not compromise our green spaces and historical landmarks. We urge the decision-makers to consider these options seriously, ensuring that growth does not come at the cost of our environment and history.

By signing this petition, we assert the collective voice of the citizens of Villa Rica and Carroll County, adamantly opposing the construction of Avemore Data Park on the grounds of Goldworth Farm Park. Together, we can protect this cherished landmark and preserve our community's character for future generations to enjoy.

Join us in standing against this development and let your voice be heard to save Goldworth Farm Park! Sign this petition today and help us protect our heritage.
