Protect Gildersome and Brownhills from Urban Development

Protect Gildersome and Brownhills from Urban Development
The Issue
STOP THE PLANS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF HOUSES ON OUR GREEN SPACES .
Gildersome is a beautiful piece of countryside cherished by the community. It serves as one of the rare green villages where families gather for walks, children play freely, and nature thrives.
One of the proposed areas, Brownhills is a vital connection between Gildersome and Drighlington, reminding us of the simplicity and beauty that nature offers.
The recent proposal by the Leeds Local Plan to convert this precious land into a housing and industrial estate threatens our cherished countryside. Paving over Brownhills will lead to the loss of farmland, disrupt local wildlife habitats, and eliminate the natural heritage that many hold dear. It would transform our vibrant green landscape into a concrete jungle, distancing the communities from the tranquility they have come to love.
The value of our Gildersome green spaces contributes to the environmental health of our communities, acting as a carbon sink which helps mitigate air pollution and combat climate change. Destroying this land would contribute to urban sprawl, increasing air pollution and traffic congestion, ultimately diminishing the quality of life in Gildersome and Drighlington.
We need sustainable development that respects our local environment and community values. Instead of paving over green fields, alternative development sites should be considered, ones which do not compromise our environment or well-being.
By coming together as a community, raising our voices, and advocating for smart planning, we can stop this development and preserve Brownhills for future generations. Let's protect our green spaces!
Let's work together to reject plans to develop areas all proposed planning in our beautiful village
Sign this petition to urge the Leeds City Council to reconsider the proposed development plan, and to preserve Gildersome and Brownhills as a natural sanctuary for the benefit of all current and future residents of Gildersome and Drighlington.
Please also, email and write as directed on the Gildersome Parish website
We have till September to object!
