House Republicans have introduced a new bill that would slash food stamp benefits, impose harsh new work requirements, and shift the cost burden to states — putting millions of low-income Americans at risk of hunger.

According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the bill could:

Force over 3 million people off SNAP every month over the next decade
Cause 1.3 million more to lose benefits as states struggle to cover new costs
Reduce monthly benefits for millions who remain on the program
Leave some households facing up to $100 in monthly food aid cuts

This bill doesn’t reduce “waste” — it takes food off the tables of working families, seniors, people with disabilities, and children.

SNAP is one of the most effective anti-poverty programs in America. It reduces hunger, stimulates local economies, and helps families get back on their feet.
