Florida House Reps Tom Fabricio (Miami insurance defense lawyer) and Tommy Gregory (Lakewood Ranch) filed HB 837 under the guise of “tort reform” but is really another attempt to make insurance companies more profits AND strip Floridians of their rights.

Florida auto insurance companies make record profits year over year. These profits roll in even though they choose to unnecessarily pay millions in legal fees so their attorneys can Delay, Deny, and Defend claims they know they should have settled from the beginning.

Instead of suing their own lawyers for malpractice (defending claims they should have advised them to settle), the insurance companies are demanding the Florida Legislature grant them favorable new laws WITHOUT any guarantee that rates will go down. 

Any changes to Florida Law should be for the benefit of Florida Voters….not Big Insurance companies.

Blaming attorneys who represent victims of injuries is not a solution to the problem and while these changes hurt those lawyers- it hurts Floridians even more by stripping them of their rights!
