F-9 Park has been a crucial part of Islamabad for decades. In recent years, Islamabad has become more and more concrete, concurrently becoming hotter and hotter. F-9 Park is the last major green area in the center of the city, and commercializing it would violate its sanctity.

The “development” of F-9 Park is being compared to London’s Hyde Park and New York’s Central Park; meanwhile, Numbeo is ranking Islamabad’s living standards higher than that of London and New York.

F-9 Park has overgrown weeds in some otherwise beautiful parts; there are broken dustbins, etc.; instead of fixing these actual issues, the government is making promises of converting F-9 into Hyde Park.

No one is asking Islamabadis what they want for their city or how they define development. This petition is a small effort to represent our voices. We, the Islamabadis, oppose the commercialization of F-9 Park.

We urge the city planners and stakeholders in Islamabad to reconsider any plans for the commercialization of F-9 Park. Instead of building over our green spaces, let us seek alternative ways to develop our city responsibly. If they promise not to cut down a single tree in the park, we request that they provide an official document detailing their renovation plans and explaining how they will fulfill that promise.
