Petition updateProtect endangered and threatened species from becoming targets of trophy hunting.Wildlife make up only 4% of the world's mammals, protection for them is dire.

As you see in this graph which was created in 2015, wildlife only account for 4% of the world’s biomass, a far cry behind humans who take up 34% and livestock which take up close to 62%.  Humans and livestock vastly outnumber wildlife and those numbers have assuredly grown since 2015.

To make this graph appear even more grim, during the previous U.S. administration, it is now 100% legal to shoot bear cubs and wolf pups in their dens or bait them to come out of their dens in wildlife preserves in Alaska where they should have protection.

Species like the bear and wolf are already vulnerable.  At a time in Earth’s history when many of the world’s wildlife are at risk of extinction, we should be setting the course to protect these species, not allow for their demise.

2023 marks 50 years that the Endangered Species Act was created to protect imperiled species.  The Endangered Species Act prohibits importing, exporting, taking, possessing, selling, and transporting endangered and threatened species (with certain exceptions). The Endangered Species Act also provides for the designation of critical habitat and prohibits the destruction of that habitat.

To commemorate this Act, let’s bring forth what the Endangered Species Act was designed for, to protect imperiled species, give them space on this earth to exist in their own right, in their habitats with their kind.

We are the ones who have the power to change their outcome.

It is up to us to tell the current U.S. administration including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to put this ban in place immediately.

Please sign and share this petition.  The wildlife are not given the proper protection they need and their lives depend on it.

“All life is interrelated.  We are all caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied into a single garment of destiny.  Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” MLK Jr.
