Tomorrow is our chance to stand up for our community before it is too late.
Join us for a peaceful community walk in opposition to the proposed rezoning of the 42-acre SSO1 SE2 site at the top of Maryborough Hill, Douglas.
📍 Meet at the Broadale bus stop on Maryborough Hill
📅 Saturday 4 July
🕛 12 noon
⏱ The walk will take approximately 30 minutes
Douglas and Rochestown are already struggling with a lack of public green spaces, traffic congestion, road safety concerns and severely overstretched infrastructure. Community, sports facilities and local amenities are all already under pressure, while thousands of additional homes are already approved, under construction or planned across the Douglas area.
This is not about being against housing. This is pro community. This is pro sustainable planning. It is about asking for master plan for the area with the right infrastructure and community amenities to come before adding a developer-led Mega Estate on a rural road feeding on to Maryborough Hill. It is about protecting valuable parkland for the future when there is enough brownfield and regeneration opportunities already within Cork City.
We are coming together to say that we want to be involved in how our community is shaped and to send a clear message to our elected representatives to VOTE NO to the rezoning and to wait to get a sustainable plan in place for Douglas and Rochestown first.
Please join us tomorrow and make your voice heard ahead of the crucial Cork City Council vote on 13 July.
See you at midday.
