Protect Dogs from Excessive Noise on BC Ferries
Every day, dogs travelling with their owners on BC Ferries are forced to stay on the vehicle deck, either in vehicles or in the pet area (which is also on the vehicle deck). The issue is the constant sounding of high pitch car alarms throughout the voyage. These alarms are an annoyance to us humans, but imagine how it is for the dogs - their acute hearing blasted for over an hour every time they have to make the journey. BC Ferries’ gentle requests to vehicle owners to shut off their alarms is totally ineffective. There is no penalty for their alarms going off, so no incentive for them to deal with it. Not all vehicle alarms go off because of ferry movement, only certain makes have motion activated alarms. This petition is to compel the BC SPCA to work with BC Ferries to resolve this issue. Perhaps BC Ferries could provide a pet area away from the car alarms or send vehicle types known to have motion activated alarms to the lower vehicle deck - away from the pet area. An option to resolve this must be found…
PLEASE HELP END THE NEEDLESS SUFFERING OF OUR PUPS…
