Hi Everyone! Thank you for supporting Del Mar Horsepark.

For our Holiday letter, we’d like to introduce you to Nick—he calls himself St. Nick--a retired race horse who found a new career as a teacher at Horsepark’s public riding school.
St. Nick instructs young people how to ride a horse that likes to jump. He offers lessons in physical core fitness, balance, empathy, and mental focus. He also teaches resilience and respect for others. He teaches kids leadership qualities required in all life experiences.
His lessons are not easy. Nick offers his wisdom freely to anyone who will listen. As a young athlete, Nick ran two races before being retired from the race track on the East Coast. He needed a new job at an early age. And Nick is a people person—well, a people horse.
His good looks and charm, and sound physical condition, earned him a second chance for work on the West Coast. After moving to Los Angeles, Nick learned to jump fences—not too high—and started carrying riders through lessons and into competitions.
Nick moved to Del Mar Horsepark at the age of 11, and he is now 15 years old and going strong. Riding schools have been disappearing throughout S. California. Nick was lucky to land at Horsepark along with other older horses and ponies who also teach at the riding academy.
As a retired thoroughbred, Nick has succeeded in the game of life. He’s earning his keep, giving to others, and loving his riders.
SAVE ST. NICK – SAVE HIS JOB – SAVE HORSEPARK!
Thank you for sharing this petition and writing your heartfelt comments. On January 12, 2021, we will ask the Fairgrounds Board to do the right thing on January 12, 2021 in keeping Horsepark open in 2021 for shows and the public riding school. Public comments help a lot!
