The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, property owners, and concerned members of the City of Cotulla and La Salle County, respectfully ask the Cotulla City Council and La Salle County Commissioners Court to take all lawful measures within their respective authority to prohibit, restrict, or prevent new data center development to the fullest extent permitted by Texas law.

Proposed data center developments throughout La Salle County may affect both City and County residents. We are concerned about potential impacts involving:

  • Water supply and wastewater capacity
  • Electrical demand and infrastructure
  • Noise and quality of life
  • Roads and heavy traffic
  • Fire protection and emergency services
  • Drainage and environmental impacts
  • Nearby homes, farms, ranches, and businesses
  • Public infrastructure costs and taxpayer funds
  • Tax incentives, abatements, or other public commitments
  • Health Concerns: Potential health impacts on residents, including those with existing chronic health conditions, as well as the possibility of new health concerns associated with impacts to air quality, water quality, and land or soil from data-center construction, operation, power generation, or related infrastructure.

We ask both governmental bodies to protect local resources, consider community impacts, provide meaningful public notice, and allow residents and property owners to be heard before additional commitments or approvals are made.
