Protect Cooroy's Native Bushland – Say No to Industrial Expansion at Holts Road
The issue
Say no to Industrial Expansion at Holts Road!
Noosa is renowned for its unique natural environment, rich biodiversity and commitment to sustainable planning. The proposed rezoning of 94 and 170 Holts Road, Cooroy would convert approximately 20 hectares of rural land into Industry and Low Impact Industry zones, despite the site containing surrounding native vegetation and recognised environmental values. While the proposal retains approximately 13.8 hectares for Environmental Management and Conservation, it would still introduce industrial development into an important bushland landscape.
This area provides habitat for native wildlife, contributes to ecological connectivity, and forms part of the green buffer that makes Cooroy and Noosa unique. Increased clearing, traffic, noise, lighting and industrial activity threaten the health of local ecosystems and the character of our community.
We acknowledge the need for employment opportunities, but they should not come at the expense of irreplaceable natural environments when alternative locations and strategies should be explored.
By signing this petition, you are calling on Noosa Council to:
>Reject the proposed industrial rezoning of 94 and 170 Holts Road.
>Protect the area's native biodiversity and wildlife habitat.
>Preserve the natural character and environmental values of Cooroy.
>Prioritise sustainable economic development that does not sacrifice environmentally significant land.
Once native bushland is cleared, it cannot simply be replaced. Let's protect this special place for future generations. Sign the petition today!
