I am a proud resident of Concord Township. I agree with the residents of Concord Township who place high value on scenic beauty, local heritage, and natural landscape.  I am calling on all those who agree with me to sign this petition to stop Milan Lodging LLC (owners of The Hillside Motel) from gaining approval from the Township Zoning Board for exceptions to ordinances, currently in place, that would allow them to build a 5 story hotel where the Hillside Motel now stands and potentially sell to a large company such as Marriot.

The Hillside Motel has been part of our community, Concord Township, for as long as I can remember. It has been an accepted part of our community as it is quiet, small, is still surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape, and has not, since its inception, grown larger or caused any disruptions to the wants and expectations of this community. 

This community does not NEED nor do they WANT another large building being thrown up against the backdrop of the beauty we so love. Allowing exceptions to current zoning ordinaces would change the entire landscape of the area direclty next to protected space and the Newlin Grist Mill that we all appreciate and value as part of our beautiful community. 

Anyone who signs this petition is asking that the Zoning Board says no to all requests made by Milan Lodging LLC. regarding current local ordinances.  The request made by Milan Lodging LLC that are up for review are listed below.  Again, by signing this petition you are asking the Zoning Board to make NO exceptions and to deny all requests listed below. The public meeting regarding this issue will be held by the Concord Township Zoning Board and will be on March 15th at 7PM.  All are welcome to attend the meeting.  It will be held in the township meeting hall at 43 S. Thorton Road, Glen Mills PA and I will be presenting this petition at the meeting.

Application seeks a special exception, pursuant to Zoning Ordinance Section 210-228, to extend and alter an existing, non-conforming motel or hotel use of the property. Alternatively, Applicant seeks a use variance from Zoning Ordinance Section 210-26.A to allow for the Applicant’s hotel use which is not a permitted use in the R-2D zoning district. Applicant also seeks: a variance from Zoning Ordinance Section 210-11.A(4) to encroach into the required 75 foot front yard setback; and, a variance from Zoning Ordinance Section 210-11.B in order to exceed the allowable height of 35 feet to permit a proposed height of 55 feet for the proposed hotel.
