The Growing Madrasa Abuse Problem in Kerala

Behind every case of child sexual abuse is a child whose innocence, trust and sense of safety may be permanently affected. Kerala has witnessed repeated cases involving madrasa teachers, raising urgent questions about whether enough is being done to protect children in these institutions.

No child should be afraid of the person entrusted with their education. No child should be silenced by fear, shame or social pressure. Every child deserves to learn in a place where their safety comes first.

Our Main Demands to Protect Children in Kerala’s Madrasas:

• Mandatory background checks for all staff.

• CCTV in appropriate common areas and proper supervision.

• Confidential reporting mechanisms and strict POCSO compliance.

• Regular independent inspections.

• Strict action against abuse, concealment and negligence.

Protecting children must come before protecting institutions, reputations or social boundaries. 
 
This is about protecting children, not attacking any religion or religious education.
