Protect Children from Graphic DVD Cover Artwork in Shops and Supermarkets.

The Issue

Petition to Protect Children from Graphic DVD Cover Artwork in Shops and Supermarkets.

Please, Sign Now to Keep Disturbing DVD Covers Out of Sight of Children.

We call upon retailers and lawmakers to take immediate action in ensuring that DVDs with graphic, violent, or highly disturbing cover artwork are placed out of the sight and reach of children in shops.

Children should not be exposed to imagery that could traumatize or negatively influence their developing minds. Many DVD covers for horror, violent action films, or other adult-rated movies often display images of blood, gore, grotesque faces, or distressing scenes. These visuals can be deeply unsettling for young children who are naturally impressionable and sensitive to frightening imagery.

Why This Matters:

Psychological Harm – Studies show that exposure to disturbing images at a young age can cause nightmares, anxiety, and an increased fear of the world around them.

Desensitization to Violence – Constant exposure to violent imagery can lead to desensitization, making children less sensitive to real-world violence and suffering.

Unavoidable Exposure – Parents cannot always shield their children in a store setting where graphic DVD covers are displayed at eye level. Children often wander through aisles and inadvertently see these distressing images.
Retail Responsibility – Just as explicit magazines are kept out of reach, DVDs with horrifying or violent imagery should be placed in a section where only age-appropriate audiences can access them.

What We Are Asking: We urge all retailers to implement policies that move DVDs featuring violent, horrifying, or explicit artwork to a separate section or behind covered shelving where children cannot accidentally see them. This simple change would protect children without restricting adult customers from purchasing these films.

We believe that stores have a responsibility to create a family-friendly shopping environment and to ensure that children are not exposed to images that can cause distress or long-term emotional effects.

Sign this petition today and help us make stores a safer place for children! Together, we can ensure that retailers take child protection seriously.

Protect their minds. Protect their innocence. Please act now.
