Protect cats from attacks by loose dogs in our town

Protect cats from attacks by loose dogs in our town
The Issue
I have been devastated by the loss of two of my beloved cats, right on my own property. They were killed by vicious, loose dogs. Unfortunately, I am not alone in this heartache. Many residents in our community have experienced similar tragedies over the past two and a half years. One resident tragically lost 10 colony TNR cats, each one spayed or neutered at her expense, while a few more saw thier cherished pets killed right on thier front porches. One lady had a screen broken by two of these dogs as they went into her sunroom and killed her cat.
The issue persists despite numerous calls and reports to local authorities. Residents have repeatedly reached out to both the police and animal control, the Police dept. has to follow the law they talk to the dog owners then they contact Animal Control. the only action taken has been to fine the dog owners These measures are clearly insufficient in addressing the gravity of the situation. As a community, we must come together to demand stronger enforcement and more effective protective measures for our pets.
The statistics are alarmingly clear—many towns enforce specific regulations to manage aggressive and loose dogs, reducing the likelihood of such attacks. Once a dog has the taste of blood they are very hard to be rehabilitated they then should be deemed dangerous and aggressive and removed from the home. Whats going to happen if a child is holding thier pet and one of these viscious dogs attack and the child is in the way and gets mauled?! That should never have to happen to get something done with these dangerous dogs. Our town should be implementing stricter control measures, and penalties for non-compliance. Such actions have proven effective in safeguarding both pets and wildlife in other areas.
We cannot afford to wait any longer. Every day that passes, more cats and small pets are at risk of suffering the same fate as mine once did. These cherished companions deserve protection, and their safety must become a priority for our local authorities. They are not only companions but many people consider them family members. Please stand with us as we urge our town and County leadership to take immediate and decisive action to protect our feline friends from the threat posed by roaming, aggressive dogs.
Join us in signing this petition to demand comprehensive solutions that will ensure the safety and well-being of all pets in our community. Together, we can create a safe, harmonious environment for everyone. Please sign and share this petition with your friends, family, and neighbors.
