Hospitals exist to heal — yet patients across the UK are being served processed meats, foods proven to harm health and drain vital NHS resources.

Bacon, sausages, and other processed meats are officially classified in the same danger category as asbestos and tobacco. There is no safe level of consumption. Serving these products to people recovering from illness or surgery is medically reckless and ethically indefensible.

Every pound wasted on preventable diseases caused by these foods is money that could strengthen our communities, support British families, and bolster our economy.

British farmers and food producers can lead the way with homegrown, fresh, whole foods — not cheap, factory-made, ultra-processed junk. 

We call on the UK government and NHS Trusts to immediately remove all processed meats from hospital menus and replace them with fresh, healthy British alternatives.
